My Plan For This Blog

I want to try and go over some of the plans I have for this blog moving forward. I will also be explaining a shift in my relationship with web design.

I started blogging in May of 2015. Many of my writings are lost, though I've managed to recover a few of them.
Throughout the past ten-and-a-half years I've been doing this, I've spent far more time designing my website than actually writing. It felt like every month I had a cool new look for the site, but I was often only posting once every year or so.

I burned out on building websites, and I intend to get into a routine of writing every day. Even if I don't publish everyday, as long as I get out at least three posts a week, I'll be happy. I want to talk about everything important to me, and even just silly things I discover or learn about.

The Content

There's a few things I want to start with on this blog, and the majority of it is pony related. I do plan to diversify at some point though.

• Episode Recaps/Reviews
  I intend to go back and restart MLP:FiM from the beginning; recapping and reviewing each episode as their own blog post (I might even do reactions to some episodes)
• Comic Analysis
  I want to get into the comics, as they're a treasure trove
• FanFiction Reviews
  I've also gotten back into fanfiction, and plan to start reviewing them again as well
  I have a history of exclusively reading and reviewing HiE stories, but I would like to branch out a bit

Future Content

• Episode Recaps/Reviews (Non-Pony)
  At some point I want to start recapping and reviewing episodes of other TV shows as well; maybe Fallout or Supernatural, maybe even getting back into anime
• FanFiction Reviews (Non-Pony)
  I also want to start reading and reviewing more fanfiction outside of My Little Pony
• Game Reviews
  I do play games on occasion, and they tend to take awhile, which I guess would make my reviews more thorough
• Movie/Film Reviews
  I'll obviously start with the MLP movie from 2017, but later on I'd like to review other movies as well

The Website

As of yesterday (November 16th, 2025), my website is officially running a child-theme of Twenty-Fourteen, the default WordPress theme for the year 2014. The child theme is called JayCal, and makes minimal changes to Twenty-Fourteen, leaving it mostly the same.

I've also done away with the library page as it was far too complex to maintain, and it was also very slow as it relied on external APIs.

I'm also not really hosting my stories here. I might decide to do that at some point, but for now I'm leaving them where they were originally published, and just linking there.

All-in-all, I think I have a pretty solid plan laid out, just so long as I stick to it. I have reminders set up everyday at noon to write something down. I will also be watching an episode of MLP every Saturday. Recaps/Reviews may not always release the same day, sometimes they'll be on Sunday. I might even just decide to post them on Sunday anyway.
