Hasbro Can’t Ignore the Popularity of Friendship is Magic

Friendship is Magic was wildly successful. It has a massive following globally. Just look at China, it's huge over there. It's a shame we can't expect more.

Note: I am not part of the SaveMLP movement, and I strongly disagree with it on many fronts.

Why FiM Still Matters

Even six years after it ended, FiM is still winning hearts and selling merch. I'm sorry G5 fans, but the latest gen didn't hit like G4 did. I understand numbers mean little to you, but we're dealing with a corporation. Hasbro needs to pay attention to what's actually working.

The Problem With Hasbro

Hasbro has a bad habit of shooting themselves in the foot. They want to be involved in the project, but their influence almost always hurts it.

Look at the comics. Hasbro has little influence there. They handed a license to IDW and mostly stayed hands-off. Imagine if they did the same with the show, leaving it to the showrunners and not forcing their way into things. I believe that approach would make for an incredible series, possibly better than FiM ever was.

Generation 6 and 2026

2026 is going to be an interesting year, as it's when we'll learn the fate of My Little Pony. I have a theory, I may be wrong, and I may be giving Hasbro too much credit here. My theory is they're bringing back FiM, but not continuing the show from season 8 as some would hope for. Rather, I believe they'll do a soft reboot of sorts, probably picking an earlier point in the timeline and going from there.

Why I'm Writing This

I realize this post is kind of incoherent, but I wanted to get across my thoughts and feelings on the matter. I think it would be a missed opportunity to bring back Twilight and her friends without doing it right.

I love these characters. I love this world. And I want to see it come back better than ever. Maybe I'm riding the high off hopium for Half-Life 3, I don't know.
